Life Expectancy

Graph created for LSHTM coursework in Feb 2014.  I think there are many interesting aspects of this graph.  First, we can see how much more frequently the US has collected data on this issue since 1970.  Second, we can see that both groups have enjoyed great increases in life expectancy since 1900, but, third, the disparity between them has narrowed very gradually in comparison to these large overall increases.  Fourth, something seems to have happened in the ’80s and ’90s that set back life expectancy for African-Americans, but not for Non-Hispanic Whites.
